LA NOUVELLE HARMONIE BRUXELLOISE d ACCORDEONS BIO

La Nouvelle Harmonie Bruxelloise d'Accordéons
(a co-production Choux de Bruxelles/Muziekpublique)

The Harmonie d accordeons de Bruxelles was founded in 1912. Ninety years later, Piet Maris and his bunch of accordeon maniacs created a new band of accordions.

After a few rehearsals, they played in public for the first time and full force (33 participants) on the 25th of May 2002, on the occasion of the Zinneke Parade, in Brussels.
After that you might have spotted them at the Dimanche sans Voitures (September 02), teh Streetsharing Partie (September 02), Accordeon Festival in Hasselt (June 03) or the Streetparty Volders en fête in Saint-Gilles (may 03 and 04).

Part of the Nouvelle Harmonie Bruxelloise d'Accordéons played on the recording of Più Lontano on the album Barricade by Jaune Toujours. As a result of that, they were invited to play with Jaune Toujours at some of their concerts: at the Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels, at the airbag festival in Bruges and at het Opening Week of the new KVS in Brussels. Memorable moments of 2006: the live recordings of the new live album of Jaune Toujours at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, a concert at the Dranouter Folk Festival and in Bollène. A tour in the Netherlands was to remember in 2007.

You may expect a repertoire typical accordion - revisited and made dynamic - tangos, waltzes, bourrées, Balkan repertoire, ska and much more...

Join the Nouvelle Harmonie Bruxelloise d'Accordéons!
You can learn the repertoire during a monthly course. Anyone with a basic skill on the accordion can join.

On the programme:
* cake and coffee (volunteer bakers are always welcome!)
* meet other accordion addicts
* work in small groups of equal levels
* work with the whole group: the band of accordions aka la Nouvelle Harmonie Bruxelloise d Accordeons.

During every course you learn a new piece and rehearse the pieces from previous courses.
We've been doing these pieces previously: valse triste, accordeon, la cumparsita, la mal-aimable, cocek, più lontano,....

The courses take place at the Moliere Theatre, (porte de Namur, Ixelles) or at the Sint-Joris-site (rue des Alexiens, Brussels), from 2pm till 5 pm.
