3'Ain - The live captation of Batich Ahmar

Batich Ahmar - red melon, or water melon in Arabic - is a track Yamen Martini composed when 3’Ain was invited by Merodefestival for a residency at Abdij van Park in Heverlee (Leuven). The trio spent a couple of days creating, arranging and rehearsing at the attic of the abbey’s guest quarters, under the impressive oak trussed roof from the 2nd half of the 17th century.

At the end of the residency they decided to have Batich Ahmar recorded and filmed in the « Pandgang », one of the white corridors around the serene square courtyard connecting essential parts of the monastery, filling it with their worldwide jazz, blending tradition and improvisation in an unique own sound.
